In addition to their reputation for high-quality music making, the John Laing Singers have become known for collaboration, community spirit, organization and exemplary administrative structure. The team of musicians and volunteers enjoy working together and produce great results! The JLS is a registered charitable organization with a constitution, a Volunteer Board, a Vision statement, and clear operating principles, forms and procedures. Their organizational chart lays out clearly defined working groups that report to our Board. There is a job description for each volunteer position that keeps our organization moving along smoothly. Working groups meet as required but coordinate most of their work by email or phone. An Annual General meeting takes place each fall and board meetings are held six to eight times a year. Singers and volunteers alike have a shared commitment to the JLS. To find a position that may be right for you, please contact our President, Jennifer Wray, via e-mail at: info@johnlaingsingers.com.

Highlights and History

Founded in 1982, the choir has received widespread acclaim for its tours, recordings and broadcasts. It has represented Canada at international choral festivals in France and Switzerland, and has performed throughout Ontario and Quebec. The choir is repeatedly invited to perform for various organizations and events in Hamilton and Halton. The singers presented their centrepiece concert to celebrate Hamilton Day in Sarasota, Florida, at the special invitation of both cities in 1997, and again in 2006. They have launched two CDs: My Love Dwelt in a Northern Land (1998), and Merrily Sing We!, a collection of Christmas music (2006).
